Most of the widely adopted apps encourage users to change their behaviour: Instagram inspired us to take pictures of our food and TikTok is making us dance for the ever-increasing online audience. Seeking connection, fame, instant gratification or pure escapism, any social media user can eventually fall into an 'algorithmized' version of self. We might give up our true self to play a role, working hard to please an AI algorithm in exchange for new likes and followers, hoping to make that role successful. The fear of missing out and the pressure to stay relevant online can trap us in this vicious cycle that keeps closing in, diminishing our life and being. 'Algo-Slave' was created to express my concerns around the misuse and overuse of social media. Created for 0x Society’s humA.I.ns exhibit.
